No, Long Island College Hospital of Brooklyn School of Nursing is a two-year associate degree registered nursing program.
Question: Do you transfer credits for courses taken at other colleges?
We have a liberal transfer credit policy. Your transcripts will be evaluated by Registrar after your acceptance to the school. We transfer courses with a grade "C" or better and sciences taken within last 5 years.
Question: Do I need the transcripts from all the colleges that I have attended?
Yes you must submit official transcripts from every post-secondary institution you have attended and official High School transcript or GED transcript.

Question: If I am not accepted, can I reapply?
Admission to the school is competitive. You may reapply the next year. To improve your chances for admissions:
improve your scores on the NLN entrance examination
improve scores in college coursework (i.e. Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology)
perform volunteer work in health related
Question: How many references are required? Who should they be from?
Two references are required. We prefer that references be requested from a supervisor in a work setting. In the event that this is not possible, academic or other references are accepted. No personal references are accepted.
Question: How long does it take to process an application?
Approximately 6 weeks from the point when your application is complete. As soon as your application is complete it will be reviewed by the Academic Standing Committee (ASC). If ASC considers accepting you to the program you will be called for an admissions interview. After the interview the final decision is made by the Academic Standing Committee.
Question: What is the passing score on the NLN entrance exam?
There is no passing score. Your NLN score, high school and college GPA’s, references and essay are considered together. The Academic Standing Committee assesses each application individually.
Question: Is housing available?
We are a commuter school. Housing is not available.
Question: Do you have an accelerated Second Career Nursing Option?
No. We do not offer this option.
Question: When do you admit a class?
We admit a new class every August. We do not admit in January.
Question: Is there an admission test?
You must take the National League for Nursing pre-entrance exam for RN’s.
To ensure that you are well prepared for the NLN Pre-entrance Exam with the most up-to-date information and most comprehensive study guides, order the: “National League for Nursing Review guide for RN pre-entrance exam” edited by Mary McDonald. The book is available at any of “Barnes and Noble” bookstores.
Question: I have a BS or MS, Do I have to take the NLN pre-entrance exam?
Yes everyone is required to take the NLN pre-entrance Exam.
Question: Do you have an Evening program?
Yes. You must have all prerequisites (all liberal arts and science courses from LICHSON curriculum) done before applying to evening program.
Question: May I apply for both Day and Evening programs.
No, you must choose only one program.
Question: What is the application deadline for the school?
The deadline for Fall 2008 Day and Evening Programs is April 21, 2008.
Question: What are the hours of classes?
Day program: Lectures between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, depending of what classes you have to take. Laboratory and clinical experience have different options during the day and evening. You will choose your options.
Evening Program lectures are from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Laboratory and clinical experience have different options in the evening only. You will choose your options.
Question: How much is the cost or per credit?
It is roughly around $26,700 for the two years, $325 per nursing course credit, $370.00 for liberal arts, science course credit.
